Kuala Lumpur Trip
Travel notes from the Kuala Lumpur leg of the Singapore-Malaysia trip, covering December 4-6, 2025. This was the final leg after Singapore and Penang.
Arrival — December 4, 2025
Early morning flight from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. Checked into Perdana KLCC hotel and explored nearby areas including KLCC park and Suria KLCC mall. Captured sunset shots of the Petronas Towers from KLCC park. Explored local markets and street food areas for dinner.
Day 1 Food
- KLIA T2 — Simple croissant and latte at Starbucks
- Bungus Kaw Kaw — Kaya toast (no kaya) and iced Kopi C kosong
- SALA (Avenue K KLCC) — Southern fried mock chicken burger and diet coke at a vegan stall
- BBQ Nights (Pavilion Bukit Bintang) — Northern Indian restaurant for dinner
Exploration — December 5, 2025
Key Locations
- Petronas Towers — Booked two slots: 18:00 for golden hour and 19:15 for blue hour photography
- Changkat Tunku Lookout Point — City skyline views, planned for sunrise
- Batu Caves — Large cave system with temple, planned for morning visit
- Petaling Street (Chinatown) — Lively market for late morning street photography
- Bukit Bintang — Shopping district for evening street photography and dinner
- Kampung Baru — Historic Malay neighborhood for afternoon street photography
- Pasar Seni (Central Market) — Cultural market, visited if time allowed
- Merdeka Square — Historic square with colonial buildings
Day 2 Food
Breakfast at the hotel included veg spring rolls, fried noodles, pasta, potato wedges, scrambled eggs, coffee, croissant, and Danish pastry. The croissant and Danish were baked fresh at the table and exceptional.
Explored Petaling Street, Chinatown, and Central Market. The market itself was unremarkable.
Lunch at Wholey Wonder (Vegan) — Tempe Bibimbap and sweet mala cauliflower.
Dinner at The Hungry Tapir (Malaysian-Inspired Vegan):
- Jungle Laksa — Vermicelli noodles with Nyonya coconut sauce, fried tofu stew
- Sweet Curry Puffs (three varieties):
- Curry Chicken — Great balance of sweet and savory
- Char Siew — Not a favorite, lacking sweetness
- Coconut Pandan — The favorite, tasted like Pooran
Final Day — December 6, 2025
Checked out at 12 PM. Covered missed spots in the morning before heading to the airport for the evening flight back to Mumbai.
Day 3 Food
- Hotel breakfast — Mini samosas, scrambled eggs, hash browns, croissant, guava juice, apple juice, and traditional Malay Kuih (two flavors: Pandan cake-like base and Coconut-chocolate tapioca base)
- Suria KLCC food court — Small pizza and Milo
- Airport — Curry puff from a random stall, ginger soda, and latte
Photography
Primary photography focus was the Petronas Towers from multiple vantage points (KLCC park, lookout point), street photography in Chinatown and Kampung Baru, and architectural shots of colonial buildings at Merdeka Square.
