Singapore Trip

Travel notes from the Singapore leg of the Singapore-Malaysia trip, covering November 29 to December 1, 2025. This was the first leg of the journey before continuing to Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

Arrival — November 29, 2025

Landed in Singapore with a pleasant flight and smooth immigration process. Visited Changi Jewel, walked around without attending the light show, and had an iced cafe mocha before heading to Vidhya’s home.

Exploring with Raghav — November 30, 2025

Morning

Visited the Botanic Gardens and enjoyed a walk through the orchid garden. Went to Orchid Road and visited Kinokuniya bookstore, which had an interesting collection ranging from manga to academic books.

Afternoon

Had lunch at a vegan restaurant in Funan mall — a mock meat burger and fries. Explored electronics stores and discussed camera features. Walked along Clarke Quay by the river, passing through the parliament, supreme court, and several notable buildings.

Visited the Asian Cultural Museum, which featured excellent exhibits on the history of religion in Singapore and Asia.

Evening

Stopped at Toast Box in Funan mall for iced tea and the famous kaya toast. After an early dinner, went to Gardens by the Bay for the light show, which was underwhelming. The Marina Bay Sands light show was significantly better.

Walked around the Marina Bay area and crossed the Helix Bridge, where I answered a tourist’s question about ATGC bases in DNA depicted on the bridge floor. Ended the day with a night view from the Singapore Flyer.

Solo Exploration — December 1, 2025

Started late due to rain. Visited Little India, which was less vibrant than expected but still offered interesting sights. Had Chilli Parotta at A2B restaurant for lunch.

Explored Chinatown, exiting from the Pagoda side as suggested. The market was tourist-heavy but yielded some interesting photos. Visited Gardens by the Bay in the afternoon — the Cloud Forest was impressive, though the Flower Dome was missed due to time constraints.
